I get a lot of requests for me to draw for people. I also get a lot of requests to join people's manga-making groups and such.
Don't get me wrong; it's flattering. I'm glad that people like my comics enough to ask me to work for them. I also love that people think me good enough to work in their teams.
However, the answer is, and always will be: No. I'm not saying it to be a bitch, or anything like that. I am honored to be getting so many requests, but there is only one person I ever want to work with, and that is ~
DJ-Anarchy. He, as well as anyone we ever invite into the "group," are the only people I will ever work with. We are proud of our creations and have worked very well together for the past 5 years to come up with stories. I do not wish to work for, or with, anyone else.
As for the manga making groups...While I'm sure a ton of the requests were completely innocent, I also know that quite a few of them are not. Quite a few people have tried to trick me into giving some ownership over Kuro Shouri to their group, and considering that I plan to (somehow) publish it someday, that would mean a cut of the profit, too. To that, all I can say is: That's low. No one aside from myself and ~
DJ-Anarchy worked on KS, and I have spent years of my life drawing this comic. In short, if you didn't do the work, then don't bother asking for some ownership.
Sorry for the long rant. This is a tiring issue and hopefully the journal will stop some people from asking me these questions.

All the same, I wish I could draw manga, it would prove to be interesting. Maybe I'll be able to one day, I mean, just look how much my art has improved since I first joined. Lololololololol

Can't they see you're too busy on KS and college and life to add in another comic? Which reminds me I need to contact my collab comic partners.
BTW, KS would probably turn to be a popular book and comic if it was published.
=__= And in a way it'd be easier to work with someone you're extremely comfortable with, and can see a lot. Not some random person who just read your comic and wants to you draw theirs.
I'm more of the offering person. If I find something I really really like (as in a story or idea from a friend), I'd ask to help develop it, or draw some of it for them, if they can't draw (or don't wanna draw it.)

I'm sure you'll be able to do it eventually
From what professionals say, it's better to draw when you think you're terrible, anyway.

It is nicer working with someone you know and see often. I've spent years working with ~DJ-Anarchy, and as a result, we work great together. We are able to honestly brainstorm, and refine each others' ideas as the come. It's much nicer.
Offering is fine, but randomly asking people whose art you like to work for you? Not awesome. =/ Especially if it's not paid.

:]] I usually only do comic for/with friends. It makes me happier to see and actually know how they feel, because, if you're doing a comic with someone online, there's a higher chance, they could lie and you'd never notice.
Yay for money! I mean, sometimes it seems a comic is more work than a drawing or painting. =.= You need to keep working on it, in seperate pages, plot, and everything, where in an art I can just finish and focus easily.

I guess I can't say the same, most of my buds are online buds now, but I hope they're not lying to me 8DD;;;;
I dunno. It probably wouldn't be so much work if I had done a short romance or something like that, but I had to go and make the first comic a long, involved story with lots of action scenes... damn me... DX

>__< I hope so with my friends too. I've had some friends want to meet me, since I'm tell my dA-friends, "I'm going somewhere and I won't be back till ____..."
And if they live by there they ask if we can meet up. (these are the close close ones.)
Crap. ^_^'''' Technically my 'first' comic I wanted to do was split in 4 parts, with their own series in each. =__= It's on hold...because my 2 collab comics are long too...and both of them don't make money because they're fancomics.
Meh...I'm too nice. Next time (after today xD) someone wants a drawing from me, they have to give something in return.

Aww..it seems like you and ~DJ-Anarchy have a very close relationship. I wish I could work on my manga with somebody, but, I don't really have any friends that are into that kind of thing. And now, i'm used to working on it by myselfT_T
It's a shame what people'll do just to get money. Guess you really gotta watch what you sign to in the real world, eh?
And I read what you wrote to ~just-a-web-artist My manga is pretty much my life too (even though people urge me to get out more
